PLAY&co Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yoshiaki Nakajima; hereinafter referred to as "PLAY&co") will open "YUURO Bath-Living Hotel Ryogoku," an urban retreat hotel limited to one group per day, in Ryogoku, Tokyo, on December 1st, 2024 (Sunday).
Even while in the city, we have created a space called "Bath-living" that seamlessly fuses two seemingly incompatible spaces—the bathroom and the living room—so that guests can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy a comfortable and relaxing time with their loved ones, family, or partners. This has created a new value for Tokyo hotel stays.
Ahead of our grand opening in December, we began pre-sales on the crowdfunding service "Makuake" on August 18th (Sunday).

By seamlessly connecting these two spaces and bringing a sense of unity and spaciousness to the environment, we have created a comfortable and relaxing area with a feeling of openness.
The "bath living" style, which allows bathrooms to be used not just for their original function but as part of a relaxing space, creates a new and unprecedented hotel experience.
Depending on the people you're visiting with, your purpose, the time of day, and your mood, the atmosphere can transform in a variety of ways, allowing you to enjoy a diverse and varied lodging experience that exquisitely blends multiple ways of spending your time.
◼︎A "specialized bathing experience" created by three professionals
The bathing space, a collaboration between three individuals—Tsuyoshi Sudo, a leading expert in sauna design; Reona Sudo, a specialist in bathing experiences; and Yoshiaki Nakajima, a professional in accommodation and sauna businesses—is another of YUURO's attractions.
Paying homage to the culture of "onsen" (hot spring bathing), which is deeply rooted in the Japanese spirit, we have equipped our facility with two bathing amenities: a semi-open-air bath and a sauna.
In our semi-open-air bath, we offer a traditional Japanese bathing method called "herbal bath." Our herbal bath, blended with relaxation in mind, provides a truly soothing and relaxing experience.
Furthermore, the bathroom space, which occupies about one-third the size of the guest room, is furnished with a daybed sofa, chairs, and stools, allowing for various ways to relax beyond simply "soaking" in the bath. Surrounded by plants that enhance the calming effect, the panoramic space overlooking the city of Tokyo creates a special moment that allows you to forget the everyday.
Furthermore, the sauna flooring uses "tatami," a material that has developed as a unique part of Japanese culture, creating a Japanese aesthetic. The soft texture and gentle feel of the tatami sauna not only provides a comfortable seating experience, but the unique texture and scent of tatami also enhance the relaxation effect.

Having planned and operated multiple sauna facilities to date, PLAY&co has repeatedly felt the potential of hot springs not just as a place to "get into the zone," but also as a "place for communication."
I believe that communication born from genuine, uninhibited interactions allows us to face others directly, free from preconceived notions based on appearance or attire, and has the power to open people's hearts.
One such bathing experience is the "onsen" (hot spring) culture in Japan. Onsen is attracting attention from all over the world, but there are few places to experience it in Tokyo, and since it is common to bathe with complete strangers, many people feel self-conscious around others.

◼︎Semi-open-air bath
The bathroom features a herbal bath blended with relaxation as its theme. Daybed sofas, chairs, and stools are arranged around the bathtub, creating a comfortable space reminiscent of a living room. Plants adorn the bathroom, and large windows offer views of the Tokyo cityscape. On clear days, you can even see the beautiful silhouette of Tokyo Tower.
◼︎ Sauna
The flooring uses tatami mats to create a Japanese atmosphere. Pressing a button releases mist, enveloping you in steam. A "cold head splash" feature allows you to pour cold water over your head inside the sauna. A cold plunge pool and outdoor relaxation area are also available. The room is U-shaped, making it easy to communicate with others. A window connects to the living room, allowing for integrated interaction with friends and family spending time in the living room.

Waterproof furniture and decorations are used, allowing you to relax even while wet after coming out of the semi-open-air bath or sauna. The in-room wine cellar is stocked with sommelier-selected beverages that perfectly complement the hot spring experience.
◼︎Simple kitchen
The rooms are fully equipped with kitchen appliances such as a refrigerator, microwave, and electric kettle, as well as dishes, cutlery, and basic seasonings like salt and pepper. You can freely cook with ingredients you bring with you.
◼︎Bedroom
We use Koala mattresses to support quality sleep. We offer two bedrooms, each accommodating up to three people, to accommodate various needs. Extra beds are also available for rent.

Tsuyoshi Sudo is the representative of Tsudou Architects & Engineers. Born in Saitama Prefecture in 1980, he graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hosei University in 2003. After working at Kitagawara Atsushi Architectural and Urban Design Institute and JAMS, he established Tsudou Design Studio/Tsuyoshi Sudo Architects & Engineers in 2012. His major design achievements include Nishiike Valley, Sauna Lab Kanda, Hobonichi School, Kanda Port Building, and Imadeya Kiyosumi-Shirakawa. His major awards include the Good Design Award, Asia Design Award, and WADAA 2021. He is also a part-time lecturer at Nihon University and Toyo University.
